Week 40 It's Barely Autumn
Week 40
Not much this week...
It's been a tough 3 weeks with Ankie away and personnel shortage for looking after the kids.
Janny has the kids mostly on her own this weekend, with help on Saturday from a new student learning on the job. She already looks like a "keeper".
Janny has had to do much more while I've been plodding away in the background - with my new shower project, mowing, painting, paperwork, picking up clients, walking the dog, cooking and so on...
But Ankie started again on Thursday, so Janny had a "free" day to catch up on other things. Including finding a new cleaning lady!
Shower project finished...
(between the 3 of us - a client, me and my "helper" - we sorted out the wiring of the exhaust fan - it comes on automatically with high humidity and stays on for 10 minutes after the light switch is off).
I'm still waiting to hear from the Local Government about housing Ukrainian refugees. The term "snail's pace" occurs to me...
There might be some relief with the gas prices - a "ceiling" is being set, but I can't yet figure it out with our apartments. At least, it won't be as bad as it first looked.
New powerpoint in the kitchen
Long overdue cleaning of the stove-top exhaust fan rosters.
Boeke, again dominating procedings at Morning Coffee...
He just takes his place at the table in the mornings...
Escaping to the warmth
We had a lovely dinner to say farewell to Ron and Annette - as they are returning to Australia - with talk of heading to France with the boat next year.
I'll need to find some crew - Frank says he wants an increase in pay AND a cabin upgrade! Ahh, good help is hard to get, sometimes... :-)

Around the farm...
Saturday early morning walk...
Janny's Mum, Rennie, is about to turn 90!!!
...but we still have her working! (just cleaning up her plants for the winter).
(We had to do a Covid test for her on Saturday - and it was POSITIVE - so we have to wait to see if she suffers with it at all - she's had all her boosters - Janny and I go for our latest tonight (Sunday)). This is Rennie's first time - she probably got it from her Choir singing on Wednesday evening.
The ditches in the forest over the road are full of duck weed....
Sunday morning walk...
Another milestone
Ben in Thailand
Before he went to the photo shoot with the Princess...
...he had to have a manicure - including the feet!
He also got to talk with the Princess - which was pretty cool - he says.
