Week 26 Getting over Covid

Grandma and Grandpa...

...Ross thought this photo looks a bit like Grandpa (I must admit that I sometimes catch him in the mirror). Janny not convinced from the photo - but there IS something...

Again, not much this week as we both climb out of the Covid depths. We're out of the isolation protocols, but still keeping clear of the clients, in particular.

All thoughts are with the upcoming World Police and Fire Games in Rotterdam from 22 July.

An old Boss of mine from the Fire Service landed the job of Director - World Police and Fire Games - so we are very lucky to have an invitation to the Host Appreciation Dinner - The Host Appreciation Dinner is the Federation’s opportunity to thank the organisers of the 2022 Games for their endeavours in staging the Games.

I explained a little bit about this to the clients at one of our daily "Show and Tell" sessions - they all think it is pretty cool, of course...but I did get a bit lost when I tried to translate and explain "perks of the job".

The dinner requires "jacket and tie" and "after five" for the ladies. Now, that's been a while! Janny dug up a very nice jacket and tie that I last wore in 2013!! - the funeral program was still in the inside pocket.

I bought a new shirt yesterday! Frank and Pam have to travel from France with theirs and hopefully we can keep them in reasonable condition on the boat - the wet gear cupboard should suffice.

Paul and Janny also have invites. Janny will drive down during the day on the Thurdsay  - she has also booked to sleep on board the SS Rotterdam - the venue of the Dinner!

I also bought a new chart for the trip to Rotterdam.

Nr. 11 Hollandse Plassen

Now, plassen means "to pee". (Ik moet even plassen - I need a pee). A plas can also be a puddle or pool of water - so the chart presumably means the Hollandse Pools. (plassen is plural of plas).

Robin, Lyall and I went to Gouda in 2018, so getting there should still be a bit familiar. Rotterdam is not much further than Moordrecht at the bottom of this photo.

Walking Milestone...

Aha! I made it to 500 days in a row - most of them including a walk before 0900hrs! A couple during the last week were more like crawling than walking, but at least it gave me a reason to get out of bed!

...and a couple of other milestone medals during the week saw me climb to the top of the Leaders Board!

..and this morning, I felt a lot more inclined to walk - hopefully shaking off the last of the Covid!
