Week 16 Back to Work...

Image
Week 16 To finish off last week we had to take the boat back to Heerenveen - it took exactly 1 hour longer than the outward trip - due to to a good-for-sailing stiff headwind. We left at 0730hrs - with the mast down and everything on board the night before - we slipped slowly out of town without waking anybody. I haven't yet learnt to sleep in the way most of the other boaties seem to... For Sale...not far from Burgum... "with room for a pony  boat"... Boeke seems to be getting the hang of it...(seemingly) enjoying it more... Our major project this week was to get the "tunnel" set up... First, the foundations.... We used an old fashioned spirit level (water) to get it level... Half-way (after 3 days) - it didn't help that they had included 60mm bolts instead of 70mm! - rectified after stern words from Janny... On Saturday, I had help from one of our boys. He comes from a socially "weak" family and has been with us for quite a few years. It creeps...

Week 15 Dokkum, again!

Written on the laptop in Dokkum for Easter...  Totally relaxing... (all three of us looked like this...) Janny has been preoccupied with another Audit - for our Quality Hallmark. She got a rap on the knuckles after the last one and so she had been working hard for this one - making sure all the paperwork is up to scratch and that everyone knew to be on their best behaviour! Well, not really, but she did have to ask permission from two adults and two children that their personal dossiers could be checked. Peter, who has been with us for nearly 13 years now, was one of them and he knows the ropes here and was able to answer all the questions in a positive manner. The real difference this time was the Auditor himself. He was pretty switched on and a likeable person to boot - not at all like the mean-spirited person who did the last one. Anyway, Janny was mightily relieved and did a few jigs and whoops during the trip to Dokkum on the boat. It had clearly been troubling her beforehand....
